BUILDING DSA INTO AN ORGANIZATION OF MASS ORGANIZERS

Friends of the Communist Caucus is an association of communist-minded DSA members who want to advance DSA into a new, mature phase through the 2023 convention. We envision building DSA into an organization of mass work organizers: we believe that every DSA member has the potential to be a socialist organizer, capable of building and participating in class struggle organizations where we live and work.

Rather than follow the model of the non-profit industrial complex, which sees membership as an email list of dwindling numbers of volunteers to mobilize, we contend that DSA must become a mass organization that builds, sustains and interconnects mass work organizers: people who can practice politics in the first person, through external facing work in the trenches of workplace fights, neighborhood organizing projects and social movement groups fighting the right and racist reaction. In advance of DSA’s 2023 convention, we encourage comrades who share this analysis to link up and coordinate with us by associating with FCC.
